SDIS & risk factors

The sudden infant death syndrome is the sudden death of an child less than one year of age that remains unexplained after post-mortem investigations.

SIDS is the third cause of death of children under one year of age after perinatal infections and birth defects.

The main risk factors are:

  • Gender of the child
  • Age of the baby
  • Breastfeeding
  • Sleeping position
